When the lockdown days of the COVID-19 pandemic affected our ability to perform together in public, Harmonic Generation members (current and alumni) and some other of our musical friends came together virtually to release a series of “Social DistanSING” video projects via our various social media channels on YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.

This was a multi-stage process that took many hours of careful and precise work by each member of the group. Singers practiced and recorded their parts individually and sent them to one of our members, who mixed and balanced them into a single audio track. Then we each filmed our respective videos (and any necessary “B roll”) using the audio as a reference. These were sent along to another member who brought everything together into the final video.

While we would have like to be able to perform in person, these videos were a great way to continue making music together, when we couldn’t actually be together to make music.
